Alice
I am a Modern and Medieval Languages (French and Italian) graduate with over five years of experience as a language tutor. I have teaching experience with the British Council, with whom I worked on my year abroad in Lyon in 2018. I have also volunteered as an academic mentor with the Access and Accelerate Academy over the last few years, training gifted underprivileged students from local state comprehensives to reach higher education. I have tutored a wide range of age groups, from primary level upwards. I specialise in French and Italian language acquisition, GCSE and IB exams, but also have ample experience in university applications and interview prep.
How I tutor
My approach to language tutoring is to make it a calm and interactive space, with a tailored lesson style depending on my student's needs - whether that's structured, grammar-focused lessons or more spontaneous, creative stuff. I ensure there is a healthy balance between listening, speaking and writing activities to encourage natural proficiency.
Why I tutor
Growing up between two cultures - London and Rome - awarded me with a sincere appreciation of languages and literature that I love to pass onto my students. I also love to teach, and being able to harness fluency and curiosity out of students with different backgrounds and abilities is something I take pride in.
