Arman

I am a graduate student in financial economics at Oxford with six years of tutoring experience. I earned a BS magna cum laude in economics, finance, & law from The Wharton School and a BA (honours) in international studies from the University of Pennsylvania. I have tutored secondary school and university students in economics, finance, calculus, history, and essay writing. I have also mentored students in university admissions, helping students get accepted to Ivy League and Oxbridge universities over the past five years.

How I tutor

I want to show that I try to really connect with the student and understand their needs and desires, especially when I’m mentoring or helping with university admissions. Additionally, I am comfortable with both leading tutoring (e.g. preparing a syllabus, systematically going through topics, assigning homework, etc.) or having student led tutoring (e.g. they come to me with prepared questions and I explain them, they tell me what they are struggling to understand in school, etc).

Why I tutor

I like being able to help students achieve their full potential and also provide guidance or insight they otherwise might not have access to. It’s also really rewarding to see students gain confidence in their academic abilities when they have greater one-on-one attention from a tutor and have somebody explain concepts in ways that resonate with them and is compatible with their learning style.

Experience

I have successfully tutored students at the secondary school, college, and university levels, helping them deeply understand the content and earn top scores.

I have worked with very highly motivated students who want to build study plans with lots of out-of-tutoring homework as well as others who need a more hands-on approach and boost of confidence to achieve their highest potential.

I am open to feedback to best tailor my teaching style to the student’s learning style and find ways that I can support their learning and academic engagement during and after our sessions.
