Loren

I am a Biochemistry DPhil student with a degree in Immunology and Infection from University College London. I have a range of experience supervising, mentoring and tutoring students in science, specialising in biology at all levels.

I have five years’ experience as a freelance classical singer working both in performance and choral leadership. I can prepare students for their performance modules (GCSE and A level music) and for choral scholarships to university.

How I tutor

I’ve always found that science is best taught when students can see the ‘bigger picture’ of what they’re learning. I help to elucidate how complex and abstract concepts can translate to real-world applications. I encourage students to see that science isn’t just a series of facts, but an exciting discipline of discovery and innovation.

Why I tutor

The best lessons I’ve had were by teachers who were excited about their subject, because they really wanted students to ‘get it’ and be excited too. My goal is to help students to reach that moment and share with them that excitement that learning about science can bring.
